The History of the Mission of Holy Trinity

  The Episcopal Mission of Holy Trinity was established in 1868 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi by the Rt. Rev. William Mercer Green.  The Methodist and Presbyterian Churches of Crystal Springs shared their buildings so that the Episcopalians would have a place to worship.  In 1870 construction of a building on the south side of West Marion Avenue, about one block from the railroad gave Holy Trinity a place of their own. 
 
  In the early 1880's that building was severely damaged by a storm.  Between 1882 and 1885, the present build of Holy Trinity was erected on West Railroad avenue.  This was due largely to a generous Scotsman named Kenneth Donald Nicolson.  He was affectionately called "K.D."
 
  1886 saw the dedication of the building by Bishop Green.  Green called Crystal Springs "the center of Mississippi's orchard and garden distict."  Church documents list the families of this mission church to include Moncure, Blanchard, Towne, Gillmore, Rhymes, Dabney, Mortimer and Didlake. 
 
  Almost every part of Holy Trinity is a memorial to a loved one or treasured member now pasted.  The beautiful windows, candlesticks, vases, the altar furnishings, the processional cross, altar missal and communion set are each loving dedicated to someone that has made this place of worship, a place of loving devotion.
